The Hagerstown Braves and Cashtown Pirates played Game 1 of the 2026 South Penn Baseball League championship series at North Hagerstown High School on Thursday, July 30. Here's what happened:
Game 1: Cashtown 4, Hagerstown 3 Carson Kuhns broke a 3-3 tie with an RBI single in the fifth inning, Josh Berzonski struck out 14 in a complete-game victory and the defending champion Pirates took the series opener on the road.
Wes Coolbaugh hit a three-run home run to give Cashtown (27-10) a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning.
Caleb Newcomber hit a two-run double down the left-field line and scored on Riley Jackson's RBI double to center as the Braves tied the game at 3 in the bottom half.
Zach Molloy doubled leading off the bottom of the sixth for Hagerstown, but was later out at third on a great throw by Kuhns from deep center field to end that threat.
