CHARLEVOIX — Jack Anstey was after the full Ryan Shay Mile experience in Charlevoix.
The former Illinois State and Australian professional runner had competed in the race before, years back when he graduated college in 2021.
That year, a downpour came race morning, putting a damper on what the race and day all-together can be.
“I’ve been looking to get back into it ever since,” Anstey said.
He thought that if he could have that great of a prior time even in the pouring rain, the full experience had to be even better.
“It was pouring rain the first time and I even had such a great time then,” he said. “The crowd was amazing and atmosphere great, so I thought that if I could come back and get a great day it’d be even better than that.”
