The Texas Tech Red Raiders have officially named their starting quarterback after the departure of Brendan Sorsby. They've named Will Hammond the starter, Texas Tech's X account announced.
The Red Raiders were dealt a bad hand with Sorsby becoming ineligible to play due to placing bets on college football games. Sorsby transferred to Texas Tech with draft pedigree after a solid season with the Cincinnati Bearcats .
However, he had his eligibility revoked after an investigation found that he had placed more than 1,000 bets on multiple sporting events, including those he played in. He wagered over $6,000 on other college football games, placing over $90,000 in bets in total , and he even admitted to the wrongdoing.
Originally, the NCAA ruled Sorsby eligible to play, much to the chagrin of several teams, but after a while, Texas Tech and Sorsby parted ways. That paved the way for…
