The Detroit Tigers are reportedly preparing to add one of Europe’s most intriguing young baseball talents to their international pipeline.
According to Francys Romero of Beisbol FR , Detroit is closing in on an agreement with 17-year-old German outfielder Emilio Götz . The reported package is worth $500,000, including a $400,000 signing bonus and a $100,000 scholarship.
The deal is expected to become official later this summer.
Emilio Götz Brings Rare Athletic Upside Götz is a 6-foot-2 left-handed hitter who projects primarily as a center fielder. He has also pitched as an amateur and recently reached 92 mph on the mound, though scouts appear more excited about his potential as an everyday position player.
“He has a chance to develop into a true five-tool player, and that’s clearly his stronger path,” one scout told Beisbol FR.
