ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — With Chiefs training camp now firmly underway, the team’s second full practice produced several notable surprises and early standouts.
Patrick Mahomes quickly reminded fans why he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the league, despite coming off an ACL tear. The two-time MVP connected with speedster receiver Xavier Worthy early on for a beautiful touchdown pass in the back left corner of the end zone. Mahomes followed this up in scrimmages with a quick dropback and lob off his back foot to hit Worthy again for a touchdown.
Kansas City is still looking to replace the production of Tyreek Hill, who was the last wide receiver to record over 1,000 receiving yards in a season — doing so in 2021. Worthy’s speed mirrors Hill as the former set the NFL record in the 40-yard dash at 4.21 seconds.
