Ahead of Thursday night's series finale in West Sacramento against the Athletics, the Boston Red Sox got some great injury news on their budding young superstar - left fielder Roman Anthony.
According to Ian Browne of MLB.com , the 22-year-old has begun a swinging progression as he works his way back from a torn ligament in his right ring finger suffered on May 4 in the Red Sox's win over the Detroit Tigers.
According to Brown, Anthony has begun hitting balls off a tee and taking soft tosses. The plan is for him to take 30 swings per day as he progresses until the next step.
The return to swinging marks the first time the 22-year-old has made tangible progress in his request to return from the injury since he was shut down on May 18 after still feeling pain in the finger as he began tee work.
