The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Election Petition Tribunal sitting at the Gudu High Court, Abuja, has affirmed the election of Hon Kasim Mohammed Ikwa, (PDP) as the duly elected chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council during the February, 21, 2026, chairmanship election.
The three-member panel, presided by Justice Suleiman Belgore in a unanimous judgement on Tuesday, dismissed an appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate, Alhaji Usman Yahaya, and upheld the tribunal’s earlier judgement, which affirmed Kasim Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of Gwagwalada chairmanship election held on February, 21, 2026.
Belgore, however, ruled that the appeal filed by the APC chairmanship candidate lacked merit and therefore, was dismissed in its entirety.
