U.S. Soccer made its position on the ongoing FIFA controversy clear on Thursday -Credit:Colin Hubbard/USSF, Getty Images U.S. Soccer has joined the ever-growing list of federations frustrated with FIFA President Gianni Infantino's proposal to sell commercial stakes in the World Cup to private investors.
Infantino has faced fierce criticism for his handling of the 2026 World Cup and hit back on social media after the competition wrapped up. Infantino accused critics of spreading hate in a lengthy Instagram post.
Infantino subsequently unveiled plans to sell stakes in the World Cup , offering nations $40 million with an incentive of $20 million upfront if they accepted by mid-September. However, UEFA strongly opposed the proposal and pledged to boycott FIFA competitions, with Concacaf now joining the growing rebellion , as per The Mirror US .
