INDIANAPOLIS -- The internet leaks were real. The Pacers are bringing back pinstripes to their uniform palate as part of their gold "Statement" jerseys, as they announced their return on their social media accounts and team website Thursday morning.
"Gold has always signaled the biggest moment in Pacers basketball," a statement on the website reads. "Now it takes center stage in a new Statement Edition, bringing with it the return of an icon. The pinstripes that defined one of the greatest eras in franchise history are back, reimagined for today's team and the next generation of Pacers basketball. A new statement, built from an unmistakable part of who we are."
The Pacers wore pinstripes on multiple uniforms from 1997-2005, a stretch of eight playoff seasons that included three trips to the Eastern Conference Finals and their first NBA Finals run in 2000. They initially wore…
