One of the most highly recruited high school football prospects from the 337 is leaving the area as Lafayette Christian Academy football’s Caiden Bellard announced he’ll be transferring to University High in Baton Rouge.
The 3-star running back is currently ranked No. 21 in Louisiana in the Class of 2028, according to 247Sports, and was reeling in DI offers left and right this summer. Listed at 5-foot-9 and 195 pounds, Bellard was set the lead the Knights offense this fall. He was even chosen to wear the No. 7 jersey, a number only worn by captains within LCA’s program.
In his sophomore campaign, Bellard was a workhorse in the backfield, helping the Knights to a 11-2 overall finish and just a two-point conversion shy of the LHSAA Select Division III semifinals. Bellard rushed for 1,532 yards and 21 TDs on 238 carries, averaging close to 7 yards per carry.
