The Atlanta Falcons ' first batch of training camp practices have been dominated by quarterback talk. After two days, undrafted free agent Jack Strand has taken the bulk of first-team reps at quarterback, which isn't what fans had in mind when they were told there would be a QB competition.
Strand has done as well as one could hope for an undrafted player thrust into a starting role. He has all the physical tools to be a successful NFL QB, and perhaps these extra reps will help him down the road.
Veteran Cooper Rush took the other 11-on-11 reps as both Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa continue to be limited. Penix did not participate on Thursday due to a scheduled rest day. Tagovailoa a took the field for the first time after sitting out on Wednesday with due a reported "flare up" of a minor back injury.
