Hampton said she felt "incredibly fortunate" to receive the honour from the university [University of Wolverhampton] England and Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton has been awarded an honorary doctorate in sports science by the University of Wolverhampton.
The university said the award acknowledged an "outstanding contribution to sport" by Hampton, who saved two penalties in the shootout as the Lionesses won Euro 2025 by beating Spain.
The honour recognised her "exceptional achievements in football and her inspirational impact on young people across the region and beyond".
The 25-year-old said she felt "incredibly fortunate" to be given the doctorate.
Hampton, who grew up in Studley, Warwickshire, and Burntwood, Staffordshire, added: "As a proud Midlander I feel lucky to have spent my formative years at home in Birmingham and the surrounding counties".
