Clemson basketball’s first game of the 2026-27 season ended with a victory. But that wasn't the headliner; rather, it was the way the game ended, coming to a screeching halt in the fourth quarter due to "wet court conditions."
The Tigers defeated BC Silute 40-35 on Wednesday at the Stella Azzurra Sport Complex in Rome, opening their three-game tour of Italy with an abbreviated win. Officials stopped the exhibition with 8:23 remaining in the fourth quarter after moisture continued accumulating on the floor and made the court unsafe.
Players and staff battled the humid conditions throughout the game, repeatedly addressing wet spots on the court. Eventually, there were simply too many to continue safely.
