India will host five-time FIFA World Cup champions Brazil in a historic international friendly at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on October 3, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has announced.
The encounter will mark the first-ever meeting between the two nations in men's international football and is expected to be one of the biggest fixtures in Indian football history.
Brazil, currently ranked fifth in the FIFA World Rankings, will become the highest-ranked opposition India have faced since the introduction of the FIFA World Ranking system in 1992.
Reacting to the announcement, the Brazilian Football Confederation highlighted India's deep-rooted admiration for the Seleção.
