The Portland Fire’s return to the WNBA has not always gone according to plan. Portland enters Friday night’s home game against the Indiana Fever with an 11-17 record and a three-game losing streak. The Fire have experienced many of the difficulties expected from an expansion team, including inconsistent offense, defensive breakdowns and an inability to close out competitive games.
There have still been a few moments worth celebrating during a challenging inaugural season. None was more impressive than Portland’s 100-84 victory over Caitlin Clark and the Fever on May 30.
