Jon Jones is confident he would have been a bad matchup for Alex Pereira .

After he finished Stipe Miocic to retain his heavyweight title at UFC 309 in November 2024 , Jones campaigned to fight Pereira over then-interim champion Tom Aspinall . The fight never materialized, and Aspinall was later promoted to undisputed champ when Jones opted to retire.

Jones (28-1 MMA, 22-1 UFC) then re-entered the drug-testing pool and pushed to fight at UFC Freedom 250 after Pereira (13-4 MMA, 10-3 UFC) vacated his light heavyweight title, but Dana White wasn't interested . Had he gotten his wish, Jones said he would have drowned Pereira.
