Allen Park — Lions coach Dan Campbell said Wednesday the team's decision to release cornerback Terrion Arnold was "unfortunate," but added it was ultimately "the move we felt was best for us."
Arnold, who was selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, was arrested in June in connection to an alleged armed robbery and kidnapping that occurred in February, which investigators believe Arnold was the primary conspirator of, according to a release from the City of Tampa . Arnold has denied involvement.
The Lions released Arnold on June 29.
"I addressed the team last night over that," Campbell said Wednesday as the Lions began training camp. "It stinks. You never want to let go of a player, especially somebody that you've been around for a while here and you drafted and all that. It's unfortunate, but we made the move we felt was best for us."
