Former Tennessee football player Chris Brazzell II, a rookie wide receiver with the Carolina Panthers, suffered a moderate tear in his lateral collateral ligament during a practice on July 29, according to multiple reports.
The injury came on a noncontact play during a 7-on-7 drill. It was reportedly unrelated to Brazzell missing two practices earlier this week due to soreness in the same knee. He was taken off on a cart.
"He felt weird on it, sat down," Panthers coach Dave Canales told reporters after practice. "We took him in. We'll get a full evaluation and get a picture of that, and we'll give you guys more information there."
Brazzell is expected to be out for up to eight weeks, which could force him to miss the start of the start of the regular season on Sept. 13.
