The St. Louis Cardinals are ready to give one of their most promising young pitchers his first opportunity in the majors.Left-hander Quinn Mathews, the No. 7 prospect in the Cardinals organization, is being called up from Triple-A Memphis and is expected to make his MLB debut Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays , MLB Pipeline reported Thursday .
First pitch from Rogers Centre is scheduled for 3:07 p.m. ET. The promotion represents a significant moment for Mathews, who has been one of the fastest-rising pitchers in the St. Louis farm system since being selected in the fourth round of the 2023 MLB Draft.
