Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved a ₦32,000 monthly increase in pensions for retirees in the state.
The increment, which is in addition to existing monthly pensions, will benefit both state and local government pensioners.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, said the governor had directed the Accountant General to commence immediate implementation and payment to eligible beneficiaries.
He said the approval underscores the administration's commitment to improving the welfare of senior citizens and cushioning the impact of the current economic situation on retirees.
