When the Saudi Public Investment Fund shockingly withdrew support for the league this year, CEO Scott O’Neil was left to scramble for investment. LIV now has until September 1 to secure new backing or risk total collapse.
In recent months, LIV Louisiana was postponed; their feeder series, the Asian Tour, instead partnered with the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, and it was reported that the Team Championship finale in Michigan would be canceled.
But while everything appeared to be crumbling, there may be some hope for LIV after all. The tour decided to delay the announcement of LIV Michigan’s cancellation, and there have been rumblings that O’Neil has found investment for 2027 and beyond.
He sent an email to LIV Golf players to address their key concerns.
