GRAND RAPIDS — When Jay and Sam Watson are on the court at the same time, you need a roster to tell them apart.
The twin brothers, who will be seniors at Holland West Ottawa in the fall, were a blur running around the court wearing their purple Highland Premier jerseys at the Brawl for the Ball travel basketball tournament last week.
“We like playing together,” Sam said. “We like to be a duo. The chemistry helps a lot.”
The Watsons, who are identical twins, are 5-foot-11, 165 pounds and can do just about anything on the court. Including throwing down dunks.
“They can both windmill dunk,” West Ottawa coach Jared Redell said. “They don’t show the bounce as much and I’d like. But they are freaky athletic.”
They look alike, but have different personalities. Jay usually does the talking for Sam. He’s the more assertive of the two.
