Miracles do happen, as Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Will Howard received support from the unlikeliest of all places — longtime critic Mark Madden.
Despite once calling Howard a “practice squad lifer,” the ever-outspoken Madden revealed on a new podcast episode of 105.9 The X that he’s switching his stance to support the young quarterback.
“It’s my big switcheroo regarding the Steelers ’ quarterback position,” Madden said. “This is way out of left field, but I am jumping on the Will Howard bandwagon. I don’t believe he’s the long-term answer. But I know for sure that Mason Rudolph ain’t the long-term answer. And I also believe that Mason Rudolph can’t win enough if [Aaron] Rodgers gets hurt and the backup has to play. I would have no problem keeping Will Howard as the No. 2. In fact, I now believe it’s a good idea.”
