Brazil’s Série D championship learned this weekend which eight teams will fight for promotion and the competition title. Goiatuba, Gama, ABC, Nacional, São José, Uberlândia, CSA and ASA advanced to the fifth round, which corresponds to the quarterfinals.
In three of the matchups, the spot was decided on penalties. That was how Nacional got past Iguatu on Saturday after a 1-1 draw at Morenão. Since the first leg had ended with the same scoreline, the Amazonas side secured qualification with a 5-4 win in the penalty shootout.
