Jul. 24—BROOKINGS, S.D. — Mitchell's Jack Gillen came out on top in his age group at the South Dakota Golf Association Junior Tour event on Wednesday, July 22 at Edgebrook Golf Course.
Gillen, competing in the boys intermediate age 12-13 group, shot a 6-over-par 76 and won his division by two strokes over Aurora's Coy Friedrich. Gillen topped an age group that included 14 competitors.
Other Mitchell-area competitors in the Brookings event included Brooks Aadland, who was fifth in the boys 10-11 age grouping, shooting a 41 over nine holes. Miles Lunning, of Brandon, won the age group. He had a hole-in-one on the 239-yard par-4 No. 10 hole to start his day, leading to a 7-under-par 27 and a nine-stroke victory.
