SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Riverfront Sports hosted the 2026 Riverfront High School Elite Tournament, where teams from across NEPA compete in boys and girls brackets for the right to become champions.
The girls’ bracket had 10 teams, while the boys’ bracket had 22 total teams.
The Lady Knights (Scranton) defeated LB (Dunmore) 48-41 in a game defined by two halves.
The first half was more defensive, with both teams combining for just 31 points, while the second half was an offensive explosion with both teams combining for almost 60 points.
Scranton was down early, but Jaelyn Alers paced the team with 23 points and answered every bucket Dunmore threw at them.
Dunmore had a second-half surge led by Janaya Martin, who had 22 points, but was unable to overcome Scranton’s length defensively or stop Alers’ scoring.
