SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The South Dakota Renegades defeated the Hot Shots 2-0 on Sunday morning for the Fastpitch World Midwest championship.
The Renegades took down the Hot Shots 5-2 in the semifinal on Saturday evening but the Hot Shots advanced through the loser’s bracket to meet the Renegades in the title game on Sunday. It took until the bottom of the third for scoring to get going with an RBI single from Paige Stensaas. Hayden Kok’s line drive double added an insurance run in the fourth to seal the Renegades win.
“This is just a great group of girls, they’re special,” head coach Kara McDougall said. “They work hard every day. I can’t say enough about them.”
“I work with a hard working group of girls and we come to practice every day and we show up and just like to work hard on and off the field and it really shows,” SDSU commit Kennedy Kokenge said.
