The crisis rocking the Ondo State House of Assembly took a new turn on Monday as lawmakers resolved to suspend plenary until the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, resign his position.
The spokesperson of the Assembly, Hon. Olatunji Fabiyi, who disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Akure, insisted that the majority of lawmakers were in support of the Speaker’s removal.
The Assembly has been embroiled in controversy following calls for Oladiji’s resignation over the alleged unilateral reordering of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) 2025 budget estimated at N9.2 billion.
Already, 21 of the 26 members of the Assembly have reportedly signed a resolution to impeach the Speaker should he refuse to step down.
