The OKC Thunder agreed to a two-year, $12 million offer sheet with restricted free agent Spencer Jones on Saturday. ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported the news .
Jones is a 25-year-old forward who has spent the first two years of his career with the Denver Nuggets . He averaged 5.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 22.1 minutes last season on 50.4% shooting from the field (39.6% from deep).
Denver has until 11:59 p.m. ET Sunday to match the deal, which is fully guaranteed. And while offer sheets rarely go unmatched, the Nuggets are also in the process of trying to reach a new deal with restricted free agent Peyton Watson .
Jones would fill OKC’s 15th and final roster spot, which it freed up by trading Lu Dort to the Atlanta Hawks on July 19. The Thunder is $6.9 million below the second apron.
