The National Population Commission (NPC) has officially commenced full digital registration of births and deaths under the Electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (E-CRVS) system across all 13 local government areas of Ebonyi State.
The NPC Federal Commissioner representing Ebonyi State, Jeremiah Nwankwegu, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abakaliki, the state capital.
Nwankwegu emphasised the critical need for a technology-driven system to ensure the accurate and prompt documentation of every birth and death in the state.
He noted that reliable civil registration was essential for generating vital statistics that guide public policy, equitable resource allocation, and national development planning.
