The Mets got six solid innings from Nolan McLean and, after being held to just one hit through five innings, got a two-RBI single from Luis Robert Jr. with two down in the eighth to grab a 4-2 win over the Miami Marlins on Thursday night at Citi Field.
McLean had his fastball and curveball working, getting five whiffs on 12 swings on the heater. He was also his own best friend, fielding his position very well as he lowered his ERA to 3.29 on the season.
Marlins right-hander Eury Pérez retired the first eight Mets batters he faced before issuing a walk and didn’t allow a hit until there were two down in the fifth, but a two-run sixth did him in. A two-out rally with three straight hits off Michael Petersen in the eighth was the difference.
