Through the rain drops, the Mets poured it on against the Atlanta Braves on Monday night, winning 14-3 at Citi Field.
Here are the key takeaways... -- It was a back-and-forth affair in this one with the Braves drawing first blood against Zac Thornton in the first inning. Ronald Acuña Jr. and Drake Baldwin had back-to-back singles to lead off the game and after a double play by Matt Olson looked like the rookie would be able to get out of the inning unharmed, Ozzie Albies had a two-out, two-strike RBI single to put Atlanta ahead.
-- But New York had an equally eventful first inning against Martin Perez with A.J. Ewing getting aboard with a leadoff single and coming around to score on Francisco Lindor ’s RBI triple that just barely missed being a two-run shot.
