Manchester City have given Abdukodir Khusanov a new five-year deal after concluding the has all the attributes required to become a world-class central defender.
The 22-year-old, a £33.5m signing from Lens in January 2025, has recovered from a traumatic debut against Chelsea to go on to become a key player in the second half of last season.
Khusanov started in both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup finals as City won twice at Wembley and excelled in their Champions League tie against Real Madrid.
And with the departure of experienced defenders John Stones and Nathan Ake, he is slated for a key role in the new regime under Enzo Maresca.
City director of football Hugo Viana said: “We’ve been really pleased and impressed by Abdukodir’s development since he arrived in England.
