Rich Paul wasn't lying when he said that no one had any idea where LeBron James would go in free agency. While the Philadelphia 76ers were in the mix to some extent, they held the longest odds of the four most realistic landing spots in recent weeks. Even looking at the days leading up to James' decision to join the 76ers , Philly was listed with lower than 10 percent odds to sign him on the popular prediction market, Kalshi. But on Friday, he gave Sixers fans even more reason for excitement, and also gave head coach Nick Nurse a birthday present.
James' 2026 free agency decision on July 24, surprisingly, landed on Nurse's birthday (July 24, 1967), adding another fun and unique twist to what was a lengthy process.
