WVEC-TV As training camps get underway across the NFL, one of the league's biggest storylines isn't on the field — it's the health of San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan.
According to ESPN , Shanahan suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries in a car crash near his Northern California home on July 14.
Shanahan suffered a broken nose, three broken ribs and a broken hand. He also sustained a severe concussion and required more than 40 stitches to his face.
49ers general manager John Lynch said Shanahan is recovering well but continues to experience lingering concussion symptoms. Shanahan is expected to be limited during the early portion of training camp, with assistant head coach Chris Foerster taking on some of his responsibilities while the rest of the coaching staff shares additional duties.
