Jon Gruden is returning to an NFL broadcast booth, but this assignment will carry a little more meaning than an ordinary preseason game. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Thursday that Gruden will join Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback Ronde Barber for the team’s Aug. 22 preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Raymond James Stadium.
Gruden will handle play-by-play duties alongside Barber, reuniting two of the central figures from Tampa Bay’s first Super Bowl championship team.
“Two franchise icons are back together again,” the Buccaneers wrote on social media while announcing the pairing.
