The Catholic Diocese of Otukpo has confirmed the abduction of one of its seminarians, Mr. Kelvin Ochai, following an attack at the Bishop's Residence in Asa III, Otukpo, Benue State.
The Diocese disclosed that the incident occurred late on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the residence of the Catholic Bishop of Otukpo Diocese, Most Rev. Michael Apochi.
In a statement issued by the Diocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Joseph Itodo, the Diocese announced the abduction and appealed to the faithful to pray for the victim's safe return.
The statement quoted Bishop Apochi as expressing profound sadness over the incident and urging Christians and people of goodwill to support the family through prayers.
