(Photo by Caean Couto/Getty Images) | Getty Images Gotham FC announced today that defender Emily Sonnett will miss the remainder of the 2026 NWSL season due to a ruptured patellar tendon in her left knee. The center back has undergone surgery to repair the rupture, suffered during Gotham’s 7/24 match against the Portland Thorns at Providence Park.
“Emily has the full support of everyone at the club, and we will be with her every step of the way throughout her recovery,” said Yael Averbuch West, the president of soccer operations for Gotham FC. “She is incredibly resilient, and we know she will return stronger.”
