A former Husker announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday night. Tight end Travis Vokolek made the announcement on Instagram that he is medically retiring.
Vokolek suffered a neck injury last season while playing for the Arizona Cardinals . He was the third-string tight end for the Cardinals and played a part on special teams. Vokolek spent two seasons with Arizona after initially going undrafted as a free agent to the Baltimore Ravens. He played in five games for the Cardinals and totaled two solo tackles.
"After numerous visits with doctors and neurologists over the past couple of months, I have been advised to medically retire from the NFL due to a serious neck injury that I suffered this past season," he wrote in his post.
