With the MLB Trade Deadline now less than 72 hours away from slamming shut and his time with the Mets likely coming to an end, reliever Brooks Raley recorded five outs and was the winning pitcher in New York’s 4-2 victory over the Miami Marlins on Thursday night.
Interim manager Andy Green thought Raley getting the win was “fitting and special” for the veteran left-hander in his fourth season with the club.
“Happy to see him get a win,” Green said. “Obviously, the next three days we don’t know what Brooks’ destination might be. And you want to see good people who have given a lot to this organization have good moments.”
With a trade before the 6 p.m. deadline on Aug. 3 likely, the 38-year-old acknowledged that his time in Queens is coming to a close.
“This organization has been great to me,” Raley said. “Hopefully we get back out there for another one the next couple of days.
