Egypt will launch a sovereign-led industrial investment fund to enhance manufacturing capabilities and boost exports, alongside a separate fund targeting private sector investments in Africa, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid announced on Tuesday.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Farid outlined the proposed investment structure for the industrial fund, which aims to attract long-term institutional capital. The fund will focus on priority sectors including machinery, low-voltage electric vehicle batteries, pharmaceuticals, packaging, and phosphate fertilisers, in an effort to localise industry, increase foreign exchange flows, and improve Egypt's trade balance.
