When the Los Angeles Chargers selected KeAndre Lambert-Smith in the 2025 NFL Draft, the appeal was obvious. He brought legitimate vertical speed, the ability to stretch the field and the kind of athleticism that could eventually carve out a role alongside Justin Herbert. One year later, though, his roster spot may not be nearly as secure as many expected.
That isn’t necessarily an indictment of Lambert-Smith. It’s simply a reflection of how competitive the Chargers’ wide receiver room has become.
Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston and Tre’ Harris appear locked into the top three spots entering training camp. McConkey remains Herbert’s most reliable target while Johnston is coming off another productive season and Harris is expected to take on a larger offensive role in Mike McDaniel’s system.
