Detroit Lions star running back Jahmyr Gibbs held himself out of practice at the start of the team's training camp on Wednesday.
The apparent hold-in comes as Gibbs waits on a new long-term contract that is expected to reset the market at his position. Bijan Robinson, a fellow 2023 draftee, is in the same boat with the Atlanta Falcons as Robinson also opted out of the Falcons' first day of training camp as he angles for a new deal.
The success of both running backs and their similar trajectories put them both in a position to reset the market value for top-tier running backs across the NFL. That comes after the position has already seen a resurgence over the last couple of years with big-money deals for Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, and Kenneth Walker III.
