Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton will soon deliver one of the most important speeches of his life, when he introduces his Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2026 in August.
Brees was elected to the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility after retiring from football in 2021. After being drafted by the then- San Diego Chargers in the 2021 NFL draft, Brees suffered a significant shoulder injury against the Denver Broncos , which led to the Chargers not re-signing him after the 2005 season. Brees then caught on with the New Orleans Saints and their new young, unproven coach named Sean Payton. The pair helped bring New Orleans out of the darkness and devastation of Hurricane Katrina, with the city rallying behind its team.
