Work to increase the stadium capacity is expected to last until 2028 [Getty Images] Barcelona have offered their support to the family of a worker who died during renovations at the club's Nou Camp stadium.
The 54-year-old man is believed to have died as a result of "a blow" while working on the redevelopment on Friday, Catalan regional police said.
Emergency services were called to the stadium, which is having its capacity increased to 105,000, but were unable to save his life.
An investigation into the incident is under way.
"FC Barcelona deeply regrets the death of the worker who lost his life yesterday in the workplace accident that occurred during the renovation works at Spotify Camp Nou," said the Catalan club.
"The club wishes to express its deepest condolences and extend its heartfelt support to his family, friends, and colleagues.
