Much was made of the Big 12's announcement that Monster Energy would serve as a conference sponsor for men's and women's basketball and football, with teams donning jersey patches that will result in an additional $20 million in revenue divided among the 16 teams annually.
That addition to schools' uniforms doesn't appear likely to be the final one, though.
Arizona State and the other member institutions will soon see more advertising, like it or not.
The Big 12, which announced the Monster Energy payout in conjunction with the football media days, was quick to point out that the deal didn't preclude individual teams from selling other advertising space on their uniforms as well. Some teams have already done so, while for others, such as ASU, that is still a work in progress.
A decision could come in the next few months. The Sun Devils open their football season Sept. 5 at Mountain…
