The New York Jets had options at tight end this offseason. They could have pursued an established veteran.
Instead, they doubled down on youth.
Rather than searching for a quick fix or a band-aid to patch things, the Jets appear committed to developing a young tight end room. The group has first-round pick Kenyon Sadiq , a breakout candidate in second-year pro Mason Taylor and fourth-year veteran Jeremy Ruckert .
It's a gamble, but it could pay dividends well beyond the 2026 season.
The Jets didn't stumble into this approach. Selecting Sadiq in the first round made it clear the organization believes he can become a cornerstone of the offense. His athleticism, versatility and ability to threaten defenses both as a receiver and blocker give him the kind of upside teams covet at the position.
