It’s surprising that anyone was surprised when Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett practiced Friday, but wasn’t on the field for any of the 11-on-11 portions of the workout.
After all, Brissett was with the team for only a few days in the June mandatory minicamp and didn’t practice as he was pushing to accomplish a restructuring of the one year remaining on the two-year contract he signed in 2025. Nothing has yet to be finalized on that.
While he was away, Gardner Minshew II and rookie Carson Beck, along with Kedon Slovis, were in meetings and on the field getting reps and learning head coach Mike LaFleur’s offense.
LaFleur is structuring camp practices in four-day blocks, something he learned from Sean McVay with the Rams , and this first block is without pads by NFL rules.
