The Zamfara State Executive Council has approved ₦6.271 billion for the procurement of 100 tractors, farm implements and the establishment of an Agricultural Mechanisation Hub in Gusau.
The approval was granted during the council's 13th meeting following a memorandum presented by the Commissioner for Agriculture.
Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, said the state would procure 100 tractors of different capacities alongside trailers, disc harrows, disc ploughs and disc ridgers under the Federal Government's Renewed Hope National Agricultural Mechanisation Programme.
He said ₦6.251 billion was approved for the equipment and construction of the Agri-Hub, while ₦20 million was earmarked for documentation and implementation logistics.
