The Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YSIEC) has commenced the training of Electoral Officers (EOs) and Assistant Electoral Officers (AEOs) ahead of the September 26 local government election in the state.
Speaking at the opening of the training in Damaturu on Wednesday, the Executive Chairman of the commission, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Yabani, said the election would hold simultaneously across the state’s 17 local government areas and 178 electoral wards.
He stated that the commission had intensified preparations to ensure the election is conducted in a free, fair, transparent, and credible manner.
According to him, the commission had, on April 23, 2026, issued the election timetable and guidelines to political parties and other stakeholders, and has remained on course with its preparations.
